COVID-19 Vaccine and Immune Response - "Quantitative" Antibody Blood Test

Know your level of protection against COVID-19 and understand to how your body has responded to vacciantion or infection.
This test is different
This test detects the IgG antibodies to COVID-19 that your immune system makes as a response to natural infection and/or vaccination.
IgG antibodies decline over time, so regular testing allows you to monitor your levels of protection
A kit containing everything you need is sent to an address of your choice.
You can then take a simple finger prick sample into the tube provided, register it on-line and post it off to the laboratory using the Royal Mail 1st Class Tracked envelope that is included with your kit.
Your full report, showing your results and confirming whether you have had an immune response and how many antibodies you have. Your IgG antibody levels are measured on a scale of 0-80,000 AU/ml (arbitrary units per millilitre)
Results are reported back to you by email and you will receive your result the day after the lab receives your sample.

This test is different in that you do not get your result while you wait, as your sample has to be sent away fro laboratory evaluation.
However with the BioSURE self-test you will get a positive or negative
When you have a natural COVID-19 infection your body has an immune response. Part of this is making antibodies that fight the virus. There are different types of antibodies that are made, the IgM antibodies which are the first type made, and fight off the virus. These only stay in your blood for a short time after infection. But your immune system also makes IgG antibodies, that remain a lot longer. These are the antibodies that offer you protection and are also called neutralising antibodies.
Your immune resposnse to vaccination is slightly different in that your body only makes the IgG antibodies as the virus is not actually present and therefore your body does not need to make IgM antibodies.
If you have a positive COVID-19 IgG antibody result it means that you have had an immune reposnse which could be due to having recent infection, being recently exposed to the virus or had vaccination. It means you currently have protection.
A negative test result means you have less than 50 AU/ml and no IgG antibodies have been detected, so either you have not had an immune response to infection or vaccination, or your IgG antibody levels have declined to undetectable over time.
