Workplace testing solutions for COVID-19

Workplace testing solutions for COVID-19

From the 1st of April 2022 free Lateral Flow Tests will no longer be available from the Government in the UK. This means you now have to take responsibility in your workplace by undertaking COVID risk assessments, incorporating a COVID Safety Policy and helping your employees know their COVID-19 status through COVID-19 antigen self testing. The scrapping of tests certainly doesn’t mean that COVID-19 has gone for good and an effective plan now, means minimal disruption in the future.

How will this affect my business?

It is no longer a criminal offence for employees to go to work whilst positive with COVID-19 and it will be unusual for employees to take a week off work because of having to isolate with COVID-19. So, your employees are returning to the workplace, but some may not feel confident or feel it is unsafe in this new environment. Employers need to strike a balance between living with Covid-19 and ensuring the safety of their staff.

Businesses need to be able to minimise the risk of having to tackle an outbreak, with employees off sick and the business struggling to cope. Following the last two years of restrictions we can’t afford to have any more missed workdays because of COVID-19.

What can I do to protect my employees and my business?

Employers should continue to follow the Government’s working safely guidance. Although you do not legally need to provide COVID-secure risk assessments, COVID-19 is going to remain around, and employers are required to manage this risk in line with the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1992*. With constant changes it makes sense to regularly review and update your current COVID-19 Risk Assessment and from our experience it is really helpful to include your employees so they’re aware of any changes, feel part of the process and allay any fears they may have. Your own policy and rules for COVID safety should reflect your type of working environment and how to minimise the risk of spreading the virus to others.

Important things to consider include ventilation in your workplace, safe hygiene practices such as cleaning down workstations regularly, staggering start and finish times, hybrid working, wearing masks in busy indoor areas and plans for dealing with confirmed cases in the workplace. You can also ensure everyone takes precautions with good hand washing which helps reduce the spread of all germs.

You can also protect your workforce and business by offering Lateral Flow (Antigen) Testing. Your employees can know if they have #COVID19 right now with products such as the Healgen Rapid COVID-19 Antigen Self Test which is specifically approved for self-testing and is one of only a handful of UK Government approved COVID-19 Tests. It has been used as part of the free Track and Trace, so we all know how to use the simple anterior nasal swab. It’s easy to perform, with results in minutes and means informed choices can be made in real time if someone tests positive. It also detects the most recent Omicron variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Regular lateral flow antigen testing can help keep infection levels under control, ensuring you can maintain your capacity and capability. We can provide certified Corporate COVID Testing for businesses, workplaces, and events. Lateral flow testing is a fast and simple way to test people who do not have symptoms of COVID-19, but who may still be spreading the virus. We provide rapid testing so you can get on and do what you do best!
